Testing Experience Improved for Students and Administrators

One of our clients is a non-profit organization that represents the most popular college entrance exam accepted and valued by all universities and colleges in the United States. The testing mechanism is based on what students learn in high school and provides personalized information about their strengths for education and career planning.

CHALLENGE

The company had a big goal, “Modernize the Test Day Experience.” They called on Cognizant Softvision for this challenge, which included building custom digital tools and platforms for all of their key stakeholders: test administrators and coordinators, students taking the exam, and company employees supporting test days from their “Command Center.”

COGNIZANT SOFTVISION’S SOLUTION

Cognizant Softvision walked our partner through the process to begin defining differentiated digital experiences or tools for test administrators, students, and the company’s Command Center. It was determined that our client would need several new software and technology solutions: test administrator mobile applications. In order to enable these applications, the required modernization of back-end systems, and a clear roadmap for how to deliver these experiences.

Cognizant Softvision curated two dedicated teams, or Pods, to develop the software and technology, starting with the Web and Mobile applications for the test administrators and coordinators.

The custom applications enable administrators to go through the pre-test planning process, manage the test day, and complete the post-test set of processes all digitally.

RESULTS

As we’ve rolled the digital programs out, the response from the test administrators has been overwhelmingly positive.

Jennifer Gidley, teacher and Test Center Supervisor spoke to Cognizant Softvision about her experience with the app.

“It was a real easy switch, and actually using the app took less time to set up than paper. The more digital you go, the less troubleshooting we have to do, which I think is a big help.”

As we grow the program, new Pods are being implemented to further improve the test day experience. Cognizant Softvision is currently working with our partner to leverage innovation and build digital experiences and products that will remove any friction our client has in their everyday business.

Our goal is to enable deeper engagement with the students and test administrators. This includes everything from how the students register and check in, to how test coordinators organize seating. Cognizant Softvision is looking at how we can leverage augmented reality to allow administrators to use their tablets to see who’s sitting where and move students around dynamically both in the application and the physical environment. We’re also working on leveraging facial recognition technology that can automatically recognize a student, therefore making the check in process more efficient for both students and administrators.
