November 2018 was my first experience as a speaker at CodeCamp and it was a great; a great pleasure for me to talk about my work experience in the REST API Automation field. I was a little nervous, but when I started my session my nerves disappeared.

So, what is CodeCamp? For those who don’t know, CodeCamp is one of the largest IT Conferences in Romania. There are a lot of sessions and speakers from different countries. Also, there are about 1,500 visitors who attend different sessions or who are involved in the challenges from different companies.

As a speaker, it was my first time when I had to present or talk about a working experience in front of almost 100 people. I had done other presentations internally in Cognizant Softvision, but there were not that many people. This time my room was full. And as I said, I was a little nervous, as is to be expected, but after I started to talk all those emotions flew away and I was in my “natural habitat.”

Another thing which I liked is that we, meaning myself and the attendees, got engaged in different subjects of QA Automation. This is something which gives the speaker some sort of trust, because the attendees really care about the presentation and they also pay more attention.

It was a great experience for me and I hope this year will follow suit. At this year’s CodeCamp, I will talk about the Value and Metrics in Automation. The main goal of this session is to answer the following questions:

– Why do we automate?

– What and when do we automate?

– How do we monitor automation effectiveness and efficiency?

– How do we integrate with other roles in the team (manual, dev, product)?

– How we advertise our results to the customer?

I’m won’t share any further details because I don’t want to spoil the fun. I hope you will be able to experience this session in person in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, on April 13.

I would recommend anyone who is considering it to take this step and speak at these types of conferences. It is a great experience and you also enhance your communication skills. You meet many people and you can exchange ideas with them, you can make new friends and, as a whole, you gain a lot.

As a returning global partner of CodeCamp, several speakers from Cognizant Softvision will be sharing their expert insights at the Cluj-Napoca event on April 13th. For more information and to register, click here.
