In March 2018, Softvision hosted a panel at the Retail Innovation Lounge at SXSW in Austin, TX. Softvision took this opportunity to pick the brains of some of the brightest minds in tech and innovation, including Jason Ballard, President, and Co-Founder of TreeHouse.
As Ballard explains, homes are one of the main causes of ecological issues –”Number one-user of energy, number two-user of water, number one producer of landfill waste, toxin exposure.”
Luckily, technological innovations can “take a lot of large leaps forward” to help solve these ecological problems.
“We can automate a lot of our energy use, our water use, and a lot of the things that create comfort and safety for the home,” says Ballard.
“We want to make sure the purposeful energy is being used well. And once we know it’s being used well, we want to automate that and at the end of the day the last thing is to make sure all that energy is renewable.”
Ballard also reveals that these smart home innovations are starting to expand from the early adoption phase among consumers. According to Ballard, smart home “may be beginning to get into the early mainstream.”
